Contemporary Interior Designing

Contemporary style of decorating is constantly evolving and connects with the growing styles and modern things. It’s a wrong assumption many make that contemporary interior design is all about achieving cold and ultra minimalist look. Contemporary designs create an environment of comfort, simplicity, subtly sophisticated and welcoming without being cluttered and dark. It’s equally appropriate for work place, stores and home as it showcases the beauty of space rather than things, clean lines and uncomplicated clarity.

Trying to achieve contemporary interior designs, it’s important to stick to some basic rules which focus on colour, space, style, neutrals and geometric shapes. Contemporary interiors are sleek and fresh.

Use of colour

When we talk about contemporary interior design the main colours we concentrate are neutrals, black and white. If the walls are of neutral colour then the accessories can be bright or can make use of antic pieces and vice versa works well to. Black defines the contemporary style room and palette is often punched up and accented with bright and bold colour. For classy contemporary look you can go for crisp white and grey with metallic finish.

Line and space

As we already spoke the important focus is space and design in line. Replace the empty walls with few hangings which would go with the wall colour, make sure they not to crowded and keep enough spacing. To draw attention the structural elements can either be painted bold with contrasting colours or diminish importance by blending them with walls.

Let it light

We all know that lighting plays a key role. This is actually the final step and should pay attention to natural lights. Use plenty of lightings throughout the room so that it doesn’t look to dark. Windowed walls are necessary to bring in lots of natural light and air. Making use of spotlights and enhancing the painting, poster or painting can draw eyes.

Art works and Accessories

When you have enough space or a particular place looks to empty, you can just add on accessories. You can probably go with art works such as wooden carvings or metallic finishes. At the same time do not crowd a single place with many, probably just one or two would do well. In case you got many frames, you can hang them close together so they give the feeling of one large piece instead of many small pieces.

Cooking in the ambience of your Heart

After a long day at work, I am in a rush to get home and relax. But the traffic in the city is only adding to the irritation. At times like that all I can think of is little effort to a good scrumptious comfort food. While trying to keep myself calm and in an effort to distract myself with thoughts of the tadka to my taste of comfort food. I pull in the drive way of my parking. As I make my way to my home, I can already feel the sense of relaxation taking over my attitude.

Walking through my house to the kitchen I get the fragrance of fresh water from the automated air fresher. As I turn on the lights I see fruits spread across the kitchen slab, dirty dishes in the kitchen sink reminding me that my maid took a day off. The very sight adds to my disheartening feeling of the day. As I seat myself down with a glass of chilled aerated drink in my living room. I look around and think the sitting room is the place to be. It was few months back when I fixed in the new lamps, the new cushion covers and a beautiful rug that I still find myself in love with. These small changes have given this room a new look, a new feel and definitely easy to maintain clean with an absentee maid.

As I put my feet up and relaxed, logged in to swiggy to order food online, I subconsciously started remembering all the times when the kitchen was neat, clean and yet I was still unhappy cooking. I always had something missing, the kitchen cabinets weren’t the way I liked, everything seemed wrong at that moment. As I was retiring for the day, I started browsing through kitchen interiors to make up for my unsatisfied, totally cluttered one and how I can quickly and easily fix it. On finding a reasonable solution, I signed up for a kitchen remodelling. The best part was, the interior designer walked in and appreciated the flooring which I was ignoring, the window location and the amount of ventilation in my kitchen. At that moment it seemed like I had been a pessimist, all she suggested was new laminate sheets for the cabinets and slight changes in the cabinets which they will customise as per my kitchen size. When I heard the minimum changes I could sense a smile from my wallet. But the whole customisation and lamination fixing would take time and I am in no position to take leaves from my office. As I started a conversation in this line, the designer smiled and mentioned that these changes will be made at their location and in the evening or a weekend the carpenters will come and fix it.

Today, after a long day at work, when I walk into my kitchen and reach out for the aerated drink, I take a minute to stand by the kitchen slab and admire the cabinets with the glass door, the light and the wall paint and the colour of the new laminate that gives my kitchen élégant and urban look. So, if you are looking to cook a scrumptious meal remember, it first gets cooked in the ambience of your heart and imagination.
